sensorama
sensorama
Morton Heilig developed Sensorama in 1954, creating the first medium to address all the human senses. It is still considered the first and as of yet unsurpassed best Virtual Reality (VR) System by many authors. The apparatus is bases on an approach that encompasses all the sensory impressions a person can receive by way of reproductions that are as accurate as possible, giving the observer the impression of reality. Separated from exterior reality by a large cover, the apparatus offers the viewer spatial vision, spatial sound, a wind and odor generator and force feedback via shaking seats for a tangible experience within the simulation. Despite its large immersion range sensorama remains a passive experience that does not allow the user to influence the scenario through action.
